Description

When I took this photo I immediately labelled it ‘why can’t we all just get along’ and posted it to Facebook. It was actually one of my most popular photos, I think when you capture something unique under the water like these two viscous predators sharing a small space and getting along, you have to wonder why we as humans can’t do the same thing, especially considering we are theoretically much better at reason and logic than these two Moray Eels.

Besides the odd discussions this photo sparked about life in general, it was a very rare find indeed. Morays for the most part are solitary, especially the larger ones like these two. You will see quite often White Eyed Morays bunched together, I’ve been lucky enough to one time see eight very small White Eyes all in the one crack poking their heads in and out, I’d also seen the White Eyes from time to time bunch up with a larger Peppered Moray or Fimbriated, but I’d never seen two larger Moray like these guys together.

I do like morays as subjects for photos, I especially love getting the shot with their mouths open, it always looks to me like they are laughing at really bad jokes, something like ‘Why did Bob fall off his bike?’, ‘Well, someone threw a fridge at him’. Now look at the picture and tell me you don’t see it.

Fimbriated Moray Eel

Fimbriated Moray

This is another one of my favourite moments from my travels in Burma/Myanmar, it was a night dive, the sites name I've sadly forgotten with time, it was insanely uncomfortable because the water was filled and I do mean filled with krill, tiny shrimp like animals that absolutely love dive lights. It [...]

Cockatoo Wasp Fish Are Somewhat Retarded

Political correctness out the window, to me, Cockatoo Wasp Fish are the retards of ocean dwelling fish. I mean look at the photo, his eyes are rolling around in his head pointing in completely different directions, whatever drugs he took, have not done him any good. They look so very stupid, but tha [...]

Kuhl Sting Ray Eye Ball

Kuhl Stingray Eyeballs

This photo is the eye ball of a Kuhl Stingray, it's a very common Ray that we get here in Phuket, especially on a dive site called Kata Beach where we have an area we lovingly refer to as Sting Ray alley. This area can have up to 50 of these Rays all hidden in the sand but closely packed together fo [...]

Pacific Lion Fish

Disco Lion Fish

I think many photographers, due to their being common, disregard Lion fish as subjects for their photo's, after spending four months diving in the Caribbean where Lion fish abound in un-maintainable numbers, you do get sick and tired of seeing them. Currently or at least when I took this photo I was [...]
