The last dive on Kata Beach turned up something pretty interesting, or at least it became far more interesting later on while viewing the day’s snaps.

I 100% thought I was taking photos of a juvenile Filefish, but when I got home and tried to ID the type of Filefish, I was surprised to see that this fish had two very prominent Pectoral fins (fins at the bottom). Filefish don’t really have these, neither do Triggerfish, so that left us kinda wondering what the heck this guy is.

Eventually, we had to resort to fish base, and we found this Long Spined Tripod Fish, so we highly suspect this photo is of the juvenile with more prominent striping in the early stages of development.

So there you go, another totally weird and wonderful critter out there hanging around on Kata Beach for divers to find!
