Description

Myanmar is an amazing place, full of wonderful and weird macro life, this was nto exception, I’ve only one time ever seen an Anemone Crab in a Bubble Anemone like this one. I see the Anemone crabs usually tend to hide in the typical Anemone’s the Bubble Anemone tends to be the home of Saddleback Anemone Fish or Tomato Anemone fish.

Of course seeing this I had to get a photo of it, and this was long before I had my macro diopters or even my dive lights, so this photo as taken with a stock standard Sony RX 100 (R1) in green water in distant Burma/Myanmar while attempting to keep an eye on 4 customers. Personally it’s one of my favourites as I always imagine the Anemone Crab wondering how the hell he got into this mess.

Whip Coral Shrimp In The Black Of Night

Actually this was not a night dive, it was just very dark and with the right camera settings it was simple enough to turn the dark expanse of navy blue behind this little shrimp to blackness. I normally don't like taking photos of Whip Coral denizens, there is a nasty trait amongst guides to move th [...]

Our first "Night Dive" of the 2019 - 2020 Kata Beach dive season is off to a good start with us finally completing the Seahorse Bingo card by finding a Spiny Seahorse (Hippocampus Histrix). We were cruising out to the rubbly area around 12 - 15m where a few adventurers had reported spotting them, [...]

Hedgehog Seahorse – Kata Beach

Hands up if you like Seahorses, hopefully you like them in the way we scuba divers like them and not in the way the Chinese like them, you know, crushed up in your morning tea. Trust me when I say that dried Seahorse drinks won't make your willy any stronger. Back on topic, if you are a fan of th [...]

I think I promised no more Frog Fish Photos for a while a little time ago, the day has finally come though to post another. Here is a Painted Frog Fish in vibrant Yellow and Maroon, found him hiding on the opposite side of a reef ledge and in the twilight of the dive, he was quite well hidden. It's [...]
